Meet Our Director: Sheri Cutler
Sheri has a rich background in early childhood education that spans over 30 years. The majority of her career has been spent as a preschool teacher and center director in the Congregation Kol Ami building. Many of the teachers have been with Sheri over 15 years – a testament to the Center’s upbeat atmosphere and her strong leadership skills. She earned a dual bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education from American University. I’ve always known that I wanted to teach preschool. I guess I’m really a lucky person. I love going to work, she said. Our teachers are so supportive of each other. Our parents can’t do enough for us. And our children are the most precious on earth. So why wouldn’t I love going to work? Sheri’s leisure time activities include reading, walking and spending time with her family and friends.
Parents often describe Kol Ami Early Learning Center as a cozy and intimate place. This is because it is located on a charming, renovated estate and has an exceptionally warm, welcoming and experienced staff. Our children learn through exploration and discovery. Content areas such as reading, math, science and art are integrated into a central theme that makes learning fun and meaningful. Parents are actively involved in the center and families develop strong connections. As a joint venture of FELS and Congregation Kol Ami, the synagogue’s facilities are available for our children to use and the Rabbi is a regular visitor in our classrooms. The Center’s diverse population adds to its already rich curriculum. Teachers join forces to enhance the cultural identity of children from diverse backgrounds and traditions sharing their cultural heritage through foods, dress, music.
