Meet Our Director: Mandy Schaible

Mandy’s passion for education started as a young child while creating play classrooms with her siblings. Later in life, Mandy knew that she wanted to be an integral part of working with and advocating for children. She is passionate about creating a safe, learning environment for children to thrive in socially and developmentally.  After graduating from Kutztown University with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, she returned to the Philadelphia area.  Her ability to address the needs of the Center, as well as those of each child, and establish a comfortable rapport with the parents make her an excellent Director. A beloved FELS staff member for nine years, Mandy’s nurturing and hands-on nature make her an outstanding professional in the field of early childhood education.

“Being the Director at the Lokoff Abramson ELC is such a rewarding job!” Mandy believes that, “Watching children develop socially, emotionally and cognitively with support and encouragement from their teachers fills my heart. It is an honor to work with wonderful families and talented educators each day.”

In her free time, Mandy enjoys running, yoga, reading, spending time with family and enjoying a good book on the beach.

Center Information

Lokoff Early Learning Center is a warm and welcoming place where staff encourage learning through discovery and exploration. Content areas such as reading, math, science and art are integrated into a central theme that makes learning fun and meaningful. Parents are actively involved in the center and families develop strong connections for years to come. Our enclosed playground areas help develop healthy bodies and minds while the nature playground invites discovery, exploration and a love of the world around us.  Our weekly Shabbat and holiday celebrations enhance the cultural identity of our Jewish children. Multicultural programs enhance the cultural identify of our children from diverse backgrounds and traditions. Parents and extended families attend center celebrations which helps to build a feeling of community.

Our center is named for three people committed to young children and high quality early education.  Terri Lynne Lokoff, daughter of Kay and Fred Lokoff, FELS supporters for over 25 years, was a young teacher who understood the value of preparing children so they succeed in school. The Terri Lynne Lokoff Child Care Foundation started in her memory, enhances the lives of children and child care teachers while increasing public awareness of the need for quality child care.  Leonard and Madlyn Abramson have been longtime, generous supporters of Tiferet Bet Israel and the early education program located there.
