Meet Our Director: Kate Wesolowski
Over the past 14 years, as a preschool teacher and center director, Kate developed the skills and gained the knowledge needed to lead a high quality early childhood education center. She appreciates the staff’s hard work and the support of the families at the center. Kate holds a dual bachelor’s degree in early childhood and elementary education from Cabrini College. The things I love most about working with young children are their fantastic imaginations, she said. If I’m having a bad day, I know that I can go into one of our three or four year old classrooms sit down in the dramatic play area and have one of the “waitresses” take my order and tell me the best thing to eat on the menu. Instantly, I’m smiling. In her spare time, Kate enjoys attending her children’s’ sporting events and is an avid baker.
For nearly 50 years, this center has been known in the community as a high quality program that has served generations of children in the same family. A 5,000 square foot building, Paley Early Learning Center’s facilities astonish first time visitors. There are spacious classrooms, an Olympic sized pool and multiple enclosed playgrounds for each age group and a gymnasium. These help develop healthy bodies and minds. Head Start and Pre-K Counts classrooms have been a part of the Center for many years. Content areas such as reading, math, science and art are integrated into a central theme and staff encourage children to learn through discovery and exploration. Parents are actively involved in the Center. There is a school age program for children 6–12 years old offering before and after school care, as well as during emergency closings and holidays. Camp Woodlight, a well-established summer program is located at this Center. A limited number of children from the community are enrolled along with children who attend our year-round program.
