Child Development Specialist- Central Administration

FELS Central Administration Office (located NE Philadelphia), is seeking a full-time Child Development Specialist . Federation Early Learning Services is a multi-site non-profit organization with over 100 years of promoting excellence in early childhood education.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years preschool, child care or early intervention consultation experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience working with families, early childhood staff, early intervention providers and other professional disciplines
  • Excellent verbal, written and communication skills
  • Ability to make decisions, meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Well organized with a collegial work style and enthusiastic support for an organization’s strategic vision, mission and goals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • The ability to differentiate between developmentally typical and atypical behaviors and skills
  • Be familiar with early childhood evaluations, developmental screening
  • Understanding of current IDEA and ADA/Individual Family Service Plans
  • Familiarity with behavioral health systems

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class technical assistance to all classroom staff helping them better integrate children with identified and unidentified special needs into the classroom setting. Create data trackers, collect and analyze data, and create an action plan
  • Collaborate with parents and staff to identify a child’s needs and help parents obtain the services needed to optimize their child’s development
  • Consult with clinicians, center directors, teaching staff, administration and early intervention service providers regarding early childhood development, early intervention services and pragmatic issues involving child care services
  • Create and implement parent agreements
