About Us

Unparalleled child care & early childhood education in the Philadelphia metro area.

Mission & Values

Built on a foundation of Jewish values and traditions, we are committed to helping families access affordable child care; providing educational activities and working with parents to build a feeling of community within our centers.

At Federation Early Learning Services (FELS), we believe:

  • Every child should feel loved and capable
  • Every center should be a safe and inviting place
  • Every child should be given opportunities to develop to the best of their ability
  • Every child should feel proud of their ethnic, religious and cultural heritage
  • Every child should learn to respect diversity and honor differences
  • Every parent is our partner
  • Every teacher should be qualified to provide a high-quality early childhood curriculum

Leadership & Board

Our leadership team represents over 130 years of combined experience in the early childhood education field. They provide technical assistance, mentoring, and support to the teachers and administrators at each of our locations.

Our Board of Directors is also integral to the success of our organization. By sharing their skills, expertise, and resources, the Board helps make it possible for us to provide the highest quality early childhood services to our children and families, while maintaining our reputation as a model non-profit. Since many members have been serving over twenty years, they have a historical perspective which provides valuable insight on how to plan for the future.

We are grateful for their leadership and guidance.

Faculty & Staff

At FELS, we are exceedingly proud of our staff. Lead Teachers typically have a Bachelor’s Degree in early childhood education, and we encourage our teachers to participate in professional development programs, so that they may continue to stay informed on current trends in education. Our teachers, administrators and staff believe in our mission, love our children, and enjoy their work environment. Many of our staff members have been with us for over 10 years!

Our teachers understand the significant impact they can have on a child’s development during the first few years of life. When staff are happy at school, the children are happy at school. When staff are experts at their jobs, the children are engaged and eager to learn. When staff are warm and welcoming, children and parents feel like their center is a “home away from home.”

Accreditation & Awards

What Parents Say About FELS!

Tuition is based on the number of days per week that your child is enrolled and includes breakfast, lunch (in some locations) and snack. The amount charged is in accordance with the classroom age group, not the age of the child, and is due regardless of a child’s absence from the program (e.g. illness, vacation, emergency closings and holidays). To learn more about tuition costs schedule a tour to visit the center of your choice.

FELS partners with the School District of Philadelphia to offer a Pre-K Counts and Head Start program at the Lassin and Paley Early Learning Centers in NE Philadelphia. These programs are free and provided for eligible children ages 3 to 5.

Our lead teachers typically have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degrees in Early Childhood Education.

We are proud of the fact that in a field plagued with high turnover, many of our teachers, administrative and leadership staff have been with us 10, 15, 20 years or more. This is because they are dedicated to our mission, love our children and feel appreciated by our families.

All children and families are welcome at FELS regardless of their race, religion or national origin.  Families come from a diverse range of religious and ethnic backgrounds. Our Jewish curriculum provides a framework for Jewish children to learn about their heritage, which fosters a strong Jewish identity. It also teaches tolerance, acceptance, and appreciation of other cultures. Our programs located in synagogue buildings do not require that families be members of the synagogue or be Jewish.

We are particularly proud of our enrichment program which is very popular with our children, parents and teachers. Children participate in a variety of fun, and engaging activities that help to develop skills and interests. Specialists work with children in their classrooms throughout the year providing enriching activities such as music and movement, yoga, foreign languages, soccer and more! Our  Special Events Program includes such things as visits from local children’s theater groups,  Zoo on Wheels, field trips to Snipes Farms for apple/pumpkin picking or the Philadelphia Museum of Art to learn about renown artists  and their masterpieces.
