Preschool Program (Ages 3 -4 years)

Offered at our Broomall, Melrose Park, Rhawnhurst, Somerton, and Wallingford locations.

Preschool is the first introduction to a lifetime of learning, a journey that should start on the right foot. Our preschool program combines educational experiences and structured play in a fun, safe and nurturing environment – offering far more than just childcare. We help children discover, explore and learn to their fullest potential so they can enter school ready to learn.

Our preschool program delves headfirst into the exciting worlds of science, music, and art. Children learn about animals, nature, and weather as part of our science curriculum. They will develop an appreciation for music through singing and using basic instruments, and an appreciation for art through finger-painting, brush painting, coloring, pasting, and gluing.

Our preschool program encourages a highly productive partnership between teachers and parents. As a partner, you’ll have numerous opportunities to communicate with us about your child’s progress.

Creative Curriculum

The Federation Early Learning Centers use The Creative Curriculum®, a comprehensive, research-based, and developmentally appropriate curriculum that follows children’s interests as they work together to explore, investigate, and make discoveries about the world around them and the people, places, and objects that are relevant to their lives.

Learning Centers and Group Activities

Through centers and group activities, children learn to function in structured and unstructured groups. Since learning is individual and personal, teachers work with children one-on-one to understand each child’s individual developmental needs and learning styles. They take the time to help each child discover, in his or her way, a fascinating world of play and learning.

Physical Development (Preschool)
Children in this age group are continuing to build on gross motor skills, self help skills, and fine motor skills. In our preschool program, we develop these areas through the incorporation of activities such as throwing, catching, jumping, leaping, and running; practicing eating and cleaning up afterwards;  working on holding a pencil correctly, and using scissors.

Cognitive Development (Preschool)
Children in this age group are able to ask and answer open-ended questions, are better able to understand sequence of events, and are building on spatial relationships and concept of time. In our preschool program, we develop these areas through letter-sound recognition and word recognition, counting and identifying numbers, and recognizing and printing names. There is also a focus on books, storytelling, show and tell, puppets, and poetry.

Social and Emotional Development (Preschool)
Children in this age group continue to grow in independence, as they begin to develop the social skills that are important to school success. They are able to cooperate, negotiate, and problem-solve more with peers, and are also becoming more adept at expressing and managing emotions. In our preschool program, we develop these areas through the introduction of responsibility as a concept and allowing more control over personal choices.

Preschooler Daily Routine

In our preschool program, your child’s day is filled with routines and learning experiences that are consistent and predictable. In knowing what is expected of him/her, your child is less likely to be frustrated or confused, and thus, feels a sense of accomplishment and success.
